Who Carried Your Cross?

The cross is where we see the seriousness of sin and the depth of God's grace. In this message centered around communion, we are reminded why Jesus continually brings His followers back to the cross: to remember what sin costs and what Christ has done for us. Through the account of Jesus' crucifixion in John 19 and the connection to the Passover lamb, we see that Jesus' death was not an accident. He willingly went to the cross to bear our sins and secure our salvation. The brutality of the cross reveals the seriousness of sin, while the sacrifice of Jesus reveals the enormous love of God. As we approach the communion table, we are invited to reflect on this truth: our sin is serious, but our salvation is significant. Because Jesus died in our place, we can know forgiveness and be reconciled to our Father in heaven. "He himself bore our sins in his body there on the cross so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness." — 1 Peter 2:24
