The Power to Start Over

Our world throws a lot at us, and before too long we may find ourselves feeling like we’re “stuck in a rut,” or even worse, facing a dead end. It’s moments like these where we could really use a fresh start.

No matter what has happened in our past, we serve a forgiving and loving God that gives us a rare gift: not just a second chance, but another chance.

Think about that. Second chances are great, but what if we mess that up as well? Even though it may not feel that we are deserving of it, God gives us another chance.

Some of the most well-known people in the Bible wouldn’t have accomplished what they did without another chance. Moses committed murder, David committed adultery, and Peter denied Christ, yet God continued to work through them to accomplish great things for His kingdom.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

As we approach Easter Sunday, perhaps it’s a good time to check in with ourselves and to ask if we’re in need of another chance. Are we fulfilling God’s plan for us? Is there more that we can do to honor God and His kingdom?

The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:7-8

Possible Prayer:
“God, only you know the plans that you have for me. I pray that you guide my thoughts and my actions so that I can serve you well. Please bless me with a clear mind and an open heart so that I can see you in others. Thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. It’s in his name, I pray. Amen.”
