When you begin to love and seek God a change occurs!  We become less focused on ourselves and have an increased desire to serve people.  God has given you a gift – a passion, talent or skill to be used to help others. (I Peter 4:10) Serving fulfills the second of two great commandments God gave us.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12: 30 & 31

Serving people can take many forms, from volunteering at church to serving on an outreach or mission team.  Resist the temptation to serve only when convenient and comfortable, as there will always be more entertaining things to do.  The sacrifice of service is removing your desires to focus on some else’s need, and in the middle of the inconvenience is where there is the greatest reward.  Even if you can’t see the proof, God promises that the work you do will never be in vain. (Hebrews 6:10)
