He decided to quit his job to become a stay at home dad, and even though this was more difficult than any paid job Mike had ever had, he was very thankful and greatly rewarded by the opportunity to grow closer to God and his family during that 7 year stretch.

After attending a spring semester with the Texas A&M 'Italart' program in Italy, Mike stayed to work in Florence, where he met his wife, Kaye. Mike and Kaye have been married for 17 years, and they enjoy spending time outdoors working in the garden and camping with their two children, Miriam and Jack who attend Fair Oaks Elementary School.
