A HEART: Sharing the compassion of Jesus Christ with others.
We cannot really be disciples of Jesus Christ unless our lives are given to serving others. A disciple was an apprentice who learned the ways of a rabbi. As the apprentices of Jesus Christ, we too are to mimic his heartfelt compassion for those in need and seek to serve them with our whole heart. In this way, we are most like Jesus. Here at Cibolo Creek, we believe the ultimate reflection of faith and obedience to our Heavenly Father is to serve others like Jesus did.
In order for Cibolo Creek Community Church to be the community of disciples that God calls His Church to be, each of us as Christ-followers must willingly embrace the noble privilege of serving others as embodied in the life of Jesus.
Philippians 2:4-5
Do not look out only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.
1 John 3:17-18
Whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how can the love of God be in him? Little children, let us not love with word or tongue, but in deed and truth.
James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 2:14-18, 26
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Volunteer Ministry Teams
Cibolo Creek Community Church has an almost infinite number of ways people can serve Christ by serving others. Everybody at Cibolo is invited to pitch in as a dependable volunteer on a ministry team to help make our church a success at serving others, starting with those who come through our doors from week to week.
Heartworks
Serving people throughout our community is an excellent way to share the love of Christ with others. You don’t really need Cibolo Creek to sponsor or coordinate such efforts for you. You can choose to do that on your own and many people in our church family do community service in a variety of ways. However, we are here to help. So Cibolo Creek’s Heartworks Ministry exists to identify and promote opportunities to serve in our community and then coordinate and mobilize our church family to lend a helping hand in the name of Christ.
Lamplight Missions Ministry
A third opportunity for serving others here at Cibolo Creek is our Lamplight Missions Ministry. We say Lamplight exists to help Christ-followers at Cibolo Creek to step outside of their comfort zone to serve others in difficult situations both locally and internationally. Lamplight offers some of the most personally demanding opportunities for sacrifice on the part of a volunteer often resulting in the greatest joy one can imagine in the act of serving others on behalf of Christ.
